Golden-Blonde Hues
Shades of golden blonde will be trending for the winter. "A lot of people like to stay blonde but want a richer, warmer shade," she shares. "So they're going for that buttery rich blonde or a golden beigey blonde."
Fiery-Red Hues
Le Chic is also anticipating the reprise of fiery-red hair. "Fiery reds are making a nice comeback," Tony shares. I love reds too because there are so many different red tones you can go with. I think for the winter, we’ll see a lot of red coppers, red orangey tones and some violet-red tones, too." To maintain such a vibrant hue, Tony recommends keeping products around that are deeply hydrating and colour-safe.
Buzz cuts
For low-maintenance types, look no further than the buzz cut. “The great thing about buzz cuts is that they’re easy to keep looking neat and tidy, so you will always look polished for work or a night out,” says Tony. “For most women, a buzz cut is a radical hairstyle that will change how others perceive you, so be prepared for lots of comments and remarks on your new look – few people have the confidence to go for a buzz cut, so enjoy that limelight.”
Long Layers
Feeling a little blah but want to keep your length? Tony suggests getting some longer layers to add subtle, sexy movement, without going short. “Let me know you want to keep your length but would enjoy more movement by keeping your layers starting below your jawline,” he says. “It can give hair a polished and sleek look while updating your long tresses.”
Platinum Bob
According to Tony, an icy blonde bob is the perfect way to welcome winter with open arms. “Winter is the best time to cut off those summer tresses and go for something brighter with a stronger shape as we head into colder months,” he says. “Strands that are bleached are more delicate, so use a flat Iron to dial into the right temperature for your hair to create soft S waves and bends.” Bobs are not going anywhere and all kinds are on trend. Those including strong and straight fringes or even those with grown out curtain fringes. ‘Half up do’s’ will also work when the fringe is longer and grown out.
Blunt Lob
“Twenty twenty-one is all about structure,” says Tony, owner of Le Chic Hair Design in Reading and Wokingham “Out with the messy texture; in comes the polished structure.” He says that fuzzy, bedhead hair is being traded in for sleeker styles of all lengths, and you can expect to see “more blunt, thick lines in haircuts instead of shattered, piecey texture.” The polished trend comes at all lengths, like this longer bob. To get the look, Tony says to ask for a blunt, heavy line with no texture, and trade in your matte texturizers for shine sprays.
The Bottle Job
This season, the best hair shades come straight out of a bottle. Phil Foden turned his Caesar-style cut into a bleached homage to Gazza at Euro 96, setting off a chain reaction of players past and present hitting the bottle, including David and Romeo Beckham as well as Chelsea’s Jorginho and Thiago Silva.
Off the pitch, it’s a trend that was heavily present during lockdown, and at Burberry’s Spring 2022 collection, so you’ll comfortably pull it off well into next year. Adding a colour, such as bright orange or pastel blue, is one way of taking it to the next level, or embrace a rainbow if you’re feeling truly confident.
